Fire of Beltaine
This candle is poured into a beautiful vibrant yellow ceramic pot. The colour is reminiscent of yellow gorse which is plentiful everywhere in Ireland. Gorse is a rapacious seeker of sunlight and warmth and when destroyed, either by man or nature, Gorse is quick to sprout new shoots and grow, forever chasing new light. The light of the candle burning brings the yellow colour alive.
The Beltaine Festival is traditionally held on 1st May and signifies the start of Summertime. It shares the date with the Festival of Flora, the Roman Goddess of flowers, so we have chosen a floral scent for this candle. Flowers were traditionally left in doorways and on windowsills to mark the Festival and the beginning of Summertime.
I have wonderful memories of weekends playing in fields with gorse borders and gathering little bundles of wildflowers on the way home, Carefree days and the countdown to school summer holidays.
Bursting with floral notes and a hint of musk, a heady fusion of violet, lily and rose paired with spicy amber, iris and sandalwood to create an exquisite floral accord.
