In Nepali and Hindi, jyoti means light, which suits this small candle holder.
The Jyoti is thrown by hand on the potter's wheel from local Nepalese clays, glazed and fired at a high temperature. Its shape is an old-fashioned chamberstick: a candle cup set into a wide, shallow plate that catches any drips, with a little finger loop so you can carry it from room to room. The curves are soft, the lines are simple, and the textured [colour] glaze is lovely to hold.
Because each piece is made by hand, yours will have its own small variations in glaze and form.
Each candlestick is made by artisans in a fair trade collective in Kathmandu and brought to the UK by Aura Que, a UK-based ethical brand supporting fair trade businesses in Nepal, Vietnam and India. Use it on the dinner table, beside the bath, or on a windowsill as the evenings draw in. It also makes a thoughtful gift paired with a set of dinner candles.

Colours
The Cream Sand glaze is a soft, warm neutral flecked with natural speckle, like sand on a winter beach. It suits a simple ivory dinner candle, and it's just as at home on a rustic kitchen table as on a pared-back mantelpiece.
Seafoam Beige is a pale, airy neutral with a gentle hint of the coast about it. It's quiet and calming, and it's lovely beside a bath or on a bedroom windowsill where the light comes in soft.
Green Cardamom takes its name from the spice: a muted, earthy sage with a soft speckle. Pair it with a cream or deep green taper for a table that feels grounded and seasonal.
Safe use
Make sure the candle sits firmly and upright in the holder before lighting. Place it on a level, heat-resistant surface away from draughts, curtains, children and pets, and never leave a lit candle unattended. Blow it out before carrying the holder, and let everything cool before cleaning.
